One of my favorite cats is the Cheetah - even if they are not one of the Big Five. Their beautiful faces and their amazing ability to get up to a speed of 60mph in seconds when chasing their prey, defies logic. But I must say that one of my more exciting adventures in Africa was in Kenya in 2005 when we had a female Cheetah jump onto the hood of our vehicle. OMG - it was amazing. Cheetahs tend to get to a higher place because it is easier for them to see potential prey. (She truly was not the least bit interested in us). The Cheetah in this picture is named "KiKi' - named by the BBC crew and as far as I know she is still alive. You may even see her on National Geo Channel. Our most recent trip to South Africa in 2017 allowed us to photograph several cheetahs that live in the Tiger Canyon Reserve in South Africa.
