Rock formations and structures are somewhat like patterns of nature, but usually more distinct and defined.  I find that they intrigue me because they often lead to places where I have not been or perhaps tell a story that I do not fully understand.  They are always full of history and ages that are sometimes hard to grasp - for they have seen so much.
